Romford: Woman Dies In Gas Explosion

An investigation has started after a woman died in a gas explosion at a house in Romford.

Emergency services were called to Penrith Road in Harold Hill just after 2pm on Friday (June 14). 

The woman was rescued by a member of her family and then taken to hospital by the air ambulance, but she later died. 

14 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called out to deal with the fire and it was brought under control just after 3pm. 

The Brigade's fire investigation team are assisting the police to find out what caused the explosion.
