William Andrews died in crash in Bicknacre last month

The friend of a boy who was killed in a car crash in Bicknacre two weekends ago has told Heart the support they've had has been 'amazing'.

Josh Cumberland was travelling in a Ford Transit van with four friends when it left Leighmans Road on Saturday (28th September) night, crashing into a tree.

18 year old William Andrews, from Shirebourn Vale in South Woodham, died at the scene.

He had just completed a course in Digital Animation, at South Essex College and was looking forward to a career in the design and media industry. Today (8th October) would have been William's 19th birthday.

To celebrate it, his family and friends are meeting at the bandstand in South Woodhams Ferrers to light candles and hold a two minute silence. Josh has set up a Facebook page for the event called 'Light the Town for Will'.

He told Heart: "It's just amazing how many people actually care about me, Will and everyone else who was involved in the accident. Everyone just cares and it's so nice to see.

"It's been really hard for not only me but his family too. I've been in contact with his family and I'm trying to be there for them as much as I can.

"I want everyone to celebrate my mates birthday and I hope it's a good way to celebrate for his family, as that's the most important thing really."
