Teenager Admits Trying To Fly From Stansted To Fight For IS
A radicalised teenager has admitted trying to go to Syria via Stansted to fight for Islamic State.
Cubeyda Jama, 19, was arrested as he tried to fly from the Essex terminal to Romania on February 5th.
The London-based Finnish student was charged with preparing acts of terrorism by making travel arrangements and gathering equipment to travel to Syria or Iraq.
Jama, of London Road, Thornton Heath, south London, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Lewes jail.
Judge Gerald Gordon adjourned his sentence until a date to be fixed in July for reports to be prepared.
Jama, who wore black rimmed glasses and a white T-shirt, spoke only to enter his plea. Reporting restrictions on the case were lifted.
