The Only Way Is Essex For Test Skipper
England Test captain Alastair Cook has signed a new two-year contract at Essex.
Cook, England's record Test run-scorer and just 36 away from becoming the first from this country to reach 10,000, has played for Essex throughout his 13-year career to date.
The 31-year-old has begun this summer in outstanding form for his county, with three hundreds in Specsavers County Championship Division Two and 523 runs already in all.
After agreeing his new deal at Chelmsford, the opener said: "It's great to sign with Essex for another couple of years, and I believe there are exciting times ahead for the club under the new head coach.
"I've been at Essex for all of my career, since making my debut in 2003, and I hope to continue playing here for as long as possible."
