More than 1,000 cannabis plants have been discovered during a police raid in rural Essex.

It's thought the plants could have been worth up to around £350,000 if fully matured.

Officers raided a barn in Uttlesford on Friday where a 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

A 31-year-old local man was also arrested on suspicion of drug offences a short time later.

Pc Rebecca Hawkins told Heart: "We've found over a thousand plants at varying stages of growth.

"There is evidence here that suggests there have been previous harvests.

"These cannabis factories have generally been in more built-up areas, however, this just shows the importance of cooperating with the public because these factories can be anywhere."
