Ups and downs in Southend

Nearly a hundred years after it was first built, Southend's Clift Lift has been restored and reopened to the public.

The 40 metre line links the seafront to the Cliftown Conservation Area and at 50 pence is a cheap alternative to the 104 steps.

The funicular's had £650,000 of major structural work done and will operate daily between 10am and 5.45pm during the Summer season.
