Westcliff: Teen Arrested Over Stabbing

A teenager has been arrested after a man was stabbed in Westcliff.

The attack happened on Fairfax Drive at around 7pm yesterday evening.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition. 

Essex Police say three men ran away from the scene and along Ronald Avenue where a second man was then attacked. He suffered minor injuries to his face.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Simon Werrett, said: "This attack happened in a busy street during daylight hours and is likely to have been witnessed by a number of passers-by and motorists. 

"This is an extremely serious incident, which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital, so I would urge anyone with information to come forward." 

The suspect, who is from the Southend area, remains in police custody.

Road closures are in place at Fairfax Drive from junction with Westbourne Grove to Hildaville Drive.
