Wickford: Armed Robbery CCTV

Police have now released a CCTV image after an armed robbery in Wickford.

Police were called at 9.15pm on Wednesday, March 7 to reports of an armed robbery at Chelmsford Star Co-Op, St Peters Terrace , Wickford. 

A masked man entered the store with a handgun, possibly an air-weapon, and demanded cash from the shop worker, who is in his late teens. 

He made off after stealing a three figure sum of cash and a small quantity of cigarettes.

Police have been following initial investigation leads since the incident happened.

Pc Phil McCorkell, from the Basildon serious crime team, said: "The worker was thankfully not injured in this incident, but was threatened and has been left very shaken by the whole ordeal. It is possible that the suspect discarded his face covering after he made off. If you think you know the man pictured in the CCTV, please get in touch with us."

The suspect was a white man, aged 41-60, wearing a black balaclava, a navy jacket, navy bottoms, carrying a blue and white Nike rucksack and carrying a small black handgun.
