Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Clacton where a woman was bitten by another woman.

It happened at around 6.20pm on Thursday, July 31, in Wellesley Road, close to the junction with Cambridge Road.

A woman driving a purple/blue coloured small car, possibly a Vauxhall Corsa, pulled up alongside the victim, a 22-year-old woman from Clacton, as she walked along the road with a friend.

She got out of the vehicle and assaulted her, pulling her to the ground by her hair and biting the back of her head. The victim suffered cuts and bruises and needed hospital treatment.

Investigating officer Dc Dave Brooks said: "We believe some members of the public may have witnessed this incident as they offered to help the victim afterwards. I would ask anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with me.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Dc Dave Brooks at Clacton CID via Essex Police 101 or they can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
