Young People Having A Say In Essex

A new campaign's being run by young people to get more teenagers involved in the issues affecting them.

As part of Local Democracy Week, The Big Involvement Event - hosted by young people - demonstrates how teenagers can get involved in their community, find out about the services available to them and have a say on how issues like bullying should be tackled.

The young people are all part of the Young Essex Assembly, Lively Training, Harwich Inspired Youth Action and The Young people's Forum for the Essex Coalition of Disabled People.

More than a hundred schoolchildren have taken part in the event and a campaign's now starting to get teenagers across the county actively involved.

Already these youth groups have been addressing issues such as anti-bullying schemes in schools and children's rights.
