It's been a truly fantastic year for movies. We take a look back at our favourite actors of 2012
The classic British actor is no stranger to taking on rather unusual roles. With the 'Harry Potter' franchise concluded however, Fiennes has been turning his acting skills to a wide variety of roles. After his portrayal of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Fiennes returned as another evil nemesis when he played Hades God of the Underword in 'Wrath of the Titans'. He also appeared in Dickens twentieth century classic 'Great Expectations' and plays an important role in the final 'Skyfall' twist.
Di Caprio is another Hollywood A-lister who frequently takes on difficult acting roles to great effect. This year he stars in Tarantino thriller Django Unchained. What is more, we're incredibly excited for Di Caprio's upcoming film The Great Gatsby. Di Caprio plays Gatsby himself in director Baz Luhrmann's take on the classic F.Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name, about the roaring twenties.
Reynolds thrilled us this year when he starred as a CIA agent charged with protecting a fugitive in Safe House. The talented American actor had us crying with laughter in Ted, alongside a brilliant cast including Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Reynolds also starred in the Safe House. It was a wonderful year for Reynolds in other respects too - he married stunning girlfriend and blonde bombshell Blake Lively.
The gorgeous Ryan is never afraid of an acting challenge, as his latest film venture The Place Beyond the Pines proves. Ryan plays a motorcycle stunt rider who commits a crime in order to provide for his wife and child. The film had an incredible reception at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and we can't release for its March 2013 release. Ryan is currently dating the beautiful Eva Mendes, who is his co-star in the film.
Bale's had an incredible run in his role as Batman since 2005. And after his final performance in The Dark Night Rises, he just had to make our list! The 10th Anniversary issue of Entertainment Weekly also named him in the Top 8 Most Powerful Cult Figures of the past decade. Pretty impressive!
It's been a busy year for Joseph too. 2012 has seen the Californian really come into his own. Another actor proving he won't be pigeon-holed, Gordon-Levitt performs in roles ranging from serious historical drama Lincoln, to action thriller Looper. The actor is now firmly on our radar and we expect more great things from him for 2013. Watch this space.
Actor-turned-producer-turned-director Affleck has had his diary jam packed in 2012. His most recent directoral effort in Argo, in which he also stars, received massive critical acclaim. And Ben's also been voted Entertainer of the Year by Entertainment Weekly, as well as Filmmaker of the Year by GQ.
Bradley's certainly been a busy boy this year. As well as filming the third Hangover film, he's also been getting involved in both drama and comedy on the big screen. We're definitely going to be catching the feel-good Silver Linings Playback this month. Bradley stars in this with the gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence.
2012's been a bit of a rollercoaster for Pattinson. It was on-then-off-then-on-again with girlfriend Kristen Stewart and of course there was the final part of Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2. We wonder what'll be next for Robert now that the Twilight Saga is over. We really hope the Christian Grey rumours turn out to be true...
No-one can deny that it's been a spectacular year for Daniel Craig. And that's why we've put him in at Number 1. As well as returning as the dashing 007 in Skyfall, the second highest grossing film of all time, Craig also took time out to repeat the role in this summer's Olympic Opening Ceremony starring alongside none other than The Queen herself. Her Majesty's Secret Service indeed.
