Exeter Golf Club

But what lies behind the grand Georgian exterior, once home to the distinguished Duckworth family for more than a century.

Just minutes from Exeter City Centre, the golf course and leisure club is an oasis of relaxation, socialising and sport for individuals, couples and families of all ages. Personality, quality and excellence are our club values so that for their members, Exeter Golf and Country Club is their home from home.

With ancient history dating back to the time of Henry III, Wear Park was purchased in 1804 by Admiral Sir Thomas Duckworth who re-built the Wear House, recognised today as one of Exeter’s most beautiful historic buildings.

Exeter Golf and Country Club history at Wear House dates back to 1929. With an 18 hole course designed by the famous James Braid, the Club has flourished during its 81 year history. The 6023 yard golf course is set amongst ancient Oaks, Lime, Redwood and Horse Chestnut trees, with a grass 250m driving range and the region’s only short game area, plus private lessons and teaching studios with the on-site PGA Golf Professional.
