Children Robert Miles
Three schools in Devon have become the first in the county to become academies under a new government initiative.
Ivybridge Community College, Broadclyst Primary and Uffculme school are part of a new list to be fast tracked.
Becoming academies will mean the schools break away from local authority control, and effectively run themselves completely.
The government claims it'll give schools & teachers more freedom, and students a better educational experience, as academies won't have to follow the national curriculum so rigidly, and they can alter term times & dates.
