Exeter High In Child Car Crash Stats

The chances of children being hurt in car crashes varies massively across different areas of Devon.

A new report shows in Exeter almost 1 in every 400 kids become casualties each year, whereas in Mid Devon the risk is around a third lower.

Dan Campsell from Road Safety Analysis thinks it is important to know: "there's a lot of work to do to try and understand what difference does it make whether you live in a rural area or a urban area. One of the things we have seen is children coming from the outskirts of cities or towns do seem to be exposed to the highest risk."

He continued: "particularly at a time when budgets are tight we need evidence like this to help us really focus our attention and target our resources in the most effective way."
