Pay To Get Rid Of Exeter's Rats

The city council's charging £50 for the previously free service.

It's the first time we're going to have to pay for rodents to be removed, but there are fears the population will now grow because of the charge.

Call-outs have already fallen from around 160 to 100 a month.

Councillor Kevin Mitchell says, "We'll have to keep an eye on the situation and monitor if there is a massive increase and obviously take action where it is appropriate".
