A1M Closed At Hatfield

Emergency services earlier closed the A1M at Hatfield to deal with a "seriously ill" man.

At 12.36pm today (Fri 19 Dec) police received a call from the ambulance service alerting them to a report of concern for welfare of a man near to the hard shoulder of the A1M near to Junction 3.

The ambulance service is also in attendance as a man is reported to be seriously ill.

3pm UPDATE

The A1M is open both wayss passing junction 3, but the North Orbital Slip road from the A414 down to the A1M remains closed with traffic diverting onto Comet Way.

There are long delays on the A414 approach from St Albans (1 hour). Other roads are starting to clear.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being established by officers on the scene.
