Two shop workers in the Bedfordshire village of Barton-le-Clay have been threatened by two men armed with guns.

The pair went into McColls newsagents in Bedford Road at 9:45pm on Sunday night (7th June) and brandished handguns.

They got access to the safe and the till and stole a large amount of cash as well as hundreds of pounds worth of scratch cards before making off.

Detective Constable Surfaz Hussain said: "This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victims carried out by two potentially very dangerous men.

"I'm urgently appealing for information that could help us find the offenders.

"If you witnessed any unusual activity in the area at the time, please do get in touch with us.

"We're also looking to trace a silver car that was seen in the vicinity, which is potentially a Seat Ibiza."
