Bletchley Woman Died After House Fire
A woman has died following a fire in a bungalow in Bletchley yesterday afternoon (Thursday 9 April 2015).
Fire crews from Bletchley, Great Holm and Broughton and an officer were called to an address in Napier Street at 4.33pm.
Group Commander Steve Wells from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service said:
"On arrival, the crew from Bletchley confirmed that smoke could be seen issuing from inside the bungalow. Two crew members wearing breathing apparatus, aided by ventilation fans, were immediately committed into the property in order to conduct an internal search, as well as suppress and extinguish the fire.
It was while crews were performing these tasks that the body of a female adult was located within the living room of the property.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends, and the local community."
The property was fitted with smoke alarms and these were heard to be operating by the first attending crews.
A fire investigation is being carried out and an inquest will be held.
