Bomb Hoax In Cogenhoe

Explosive disposal teams called after a man said he had a bomb in his car.

Homes in Cogenhoe in Northampton were evacuated last night after a man said he had a bomb in his car.

Police went to St Peters Way at around 8:00pm after a man called to say there was an explosive device in a car.

The RAF Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit were then called and carried out a search on the car but nothing was found. 

Nearby houses were evacuated and residents were allowed back into their homes in the early hours of this morning.

Today officers will be on patrol in Cogenhoe to update residents and provide reassurance.

A 41-year-old man from Wellingborough has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications offences and is currently in police custody.
