Car Crash Kills Driver Near Letchworth

A man's died after his car overturned and caught fire on the Hitchin Road near Letchworth Garden City.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the fatal crash in the village of Weston, at around 3.15am.

Hertfordshire Officers say a blue Peugeot 307 collided with the wall of a property on the road. No other vehicles were involved but a man in his 30s from Hertfordshire sadly passed away at the scene.

Investigating officer Sergeant Stephanie Crichton from the Road Policing Unit:

"This is a tragic incident where a man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw the car during the night and leading up to when the collision took place to come forward. Any information provided could help us to piece together the circumstance of this collision."

Road closures have been lifted on Hitchin Road in Weston at the junction with Lannock Hill.
