Valentine's Day....Abseil??

10 January 2011, 17:26

CLIC Sargent is calling on romantics with a head for heights to take part in an adrenalin-fuelled abseil to raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

The Valentines Weekend Abseil will see brave souls descend a nail-biting 120ft from Bedford College Tower Block, Bedford on Saturday 12th February from 9.00 am to 4.00pm.

Clare Norrish, Event Fundraising Manager for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent, said: “The Valentines Weekend Abseil is a wonderful opportunity to really help make a difference to those families whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer, and a totally unique way to spend Valentine’s Day! Whether you are planning a romantic surprise for a loved one and want to scale the building with a rose in your mouth, or if you are taking it on as a personal challenge, sign up as soon as possible as places are limited!”

The abseil is open to anyone over the age of 16 and can be completed either in couples or individually. A registration fee of £10 is required along with a minimum sponsorship of £100 per person.  Each participant will receive a free CLIC Sargent t-shirt if they raise over £150 and a free CLIC Sargent fleece will be given to those raising over £200.

Every day 10 families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer.  CLIC Sargent helps children and young people with cancer and their families with the trauma of diagnosis, the often long journey through treatment and continues to support them afterwards. All proceeds from the abseil will go towards offering clinical, practical and emotional support for families affected by childhood cancer, so CLIC Sargent can be there every step of the way.
