A cyclist is in hospital with serious head and leg injuries after he was hit by a car in Welwyn.
The collision occurred at around 6pm on the A1000 Chequers, at the junction near to Ascots Lane. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but a black Ford Fiesta being driven by a 39 year old woman from Welwyn Garden City was in collision with the 28 year old male cyclist.
The cyclist has been taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries to his head and legs. The road was closed for around three hours.
PC Sam Cordingley who is investigating the incident said: "There was a lot of traffic around at the time of the collision, so there must have been people who witnessed the collision or the cyclist prior to it. We are urging anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us a soon as possible."
