Officers in Stevenage are investigating an incident where a dog was allegedly dangerously out of control want to speak to a woman who may be able to help with their investigation.

The incident happened in the Tesco car park at The Forum in Stevenage on January 21 at around 2.30pm when a white pit bull–type dog is reported to have attempted to attack a 6 year-old girl.

Her parents surrounded their daughter to protect her from the dog.

The pet, which had dark coloured markings on its back and a dark coloured patch over one eye, was on a lead but, at the time of the incident, the owner did not have hold of the leash.

PC Neal Dyton said:

"I am particularly keen to speak to a woman who approached the parents after the incident and told them information that could be helpful to the investigation.

Please contact me as soon as possible via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference number E1/16/476.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or submit information through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org"
