Fatal Crashes In Bedfordshire
Two fatal crashes have caused chaos on the roads this morning.
One person died following a collision on the A421 (Thursday).
Police were called at approximately 3.50am to reports of a collision between a lorry and two pedestrians on the eastbound carriageway near Marston Moretaine.
Emergency services attended and sadly pronounced one person dead at the scene. The second person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours for investigations and re-opened at 10.30am.
Meanwhile, a woman has also died following a collision on the A1 between the B645 Wyboston and the A428 this morning.
Officers were called around 3am to reports of a collision involving a HGV and a pedestrian.
A woman in her 30s was hit by a HGV on the southbound carriageway.
The southbound carriageway is currently closed between Brampton Hut and Wyboston while the HGV is recovered and was expected to reopen at around 10am.
The northbound carriageway was closed but reopened at approximately 8am this morning.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
Anyone who saw the incident or a woman walking along the A1 this morning should contact police on 101 and ask to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit.
