Police are appealing for witnesses after a lollipop lady suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Kempston.

The 71 year-old remains at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a serious, but stable, condition following the collision at 3.42pm on Friday (Dec 19).

She had been working next to a pedestrian crossing in Bedford Road when she was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf.

She was airlifted to hospital.

The driver of the car was not injured in the collision.

Sergeant Chris Smith said: "The area was very busy at the time of the collision and I would urge anyone who saw what happened to call police (on 101)."
