Hertfordshire Police are trying to find a couple who helped a 22 year old man after he was attacked by four men in St Albans earlier this month.
He was punched a number of times near the taxi rank in St Peters Street on 1st February at around 3.10am.
The victim suffered bruising and swelling to his face and may require surgery to his nose.
The offenders are described as four black men aged in their 20s. The main offender had short black hair and was wearing dark coloured clothing.
PC Joel Gill is investigating and said: "A couple kindly helped the victim get a taxi and made sure he got home. Unfortunately we don't have any details for these two people and I ask that they make contact with me as they may have vital information. I would also appeal to anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened to contact me."
Anyone who can help is asked to contact PC Gill via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number F1/15/376. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
