A 39 year old man's been charged with murdering a pet shop owner in Northampton 22 years ago.

The body of 76 year old Arthur Brumhill was found in the basement of Denton’s Pet and Garden Store in Wellingborough Road on January 22nd, 1993.

Northamptonshire Police have now charged Stuart Jenkins, who used to live in the town but now lives in West Yorkshire, with his murder.

He's been remanded in custody and will appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court tomorrow (May 21).

Detective Inspector Louise Hemingway said: “We are pleased to be able to confirm that 22 years after Arthur’s death we have today been able to charge someone with his murder.

“This followed a review of the case and a re-examination of evidence recovered from the scene using up to date forensic techniques.”
