Man Seriously Ill After Dunstable Police Contact

Bedfordshire Police have revealed why the A5 was closed in Dunstable earlier, an investigation into an incident which occurred at Caddington yesterday (Thursday June 16th).
Police and the ambulance service were called at around 7.05pm to reports of concern for a man on the northbound carriageway.
Officers attended and spoke to the man who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit.
The man was taken to hospital for examination before being discharged and taken to police custody.
He was later taken back to hospital after becoming unwell in Luton Police Station and remains in a serious condition.
Police are investigating what happened to the man prior to emergency services arriving at the scene.
Police say:
"The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) as is procedure when a person who has been in recent contact with the police becomes unwell.
Anyone who was driving on the A5 at around 7pm last night and witnessed an incident is asked to contact police on 101 with information."
