MK Man Escapes Jail After Causing Wife's Death

An elderly man found guilty of causing the death of his wife by careless driving has escaped jail

Eric Coles, aged 88, of Abbey Road in Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court to one charge of causing death by careless driving.

On 11 September 2014, the vehicle Coles was driving was involved in a collision on the H9 Groveway in Milton Keynes at the junction with Simpson Drive.

Eric Coles’ wife, June Coles, aged 84, died as a result of the collision.

Eric Coles was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and was disqualified from driving for five years. He is also required to undergo an extended re-test at the end of his driving ban.
