A 19 year-old from Hillington in Norfolk has been jailed for 12 years at Northampton Crown Court today, for the grooming and sexual abuse of a Northamptonshire youngster, a child under 16.
Connor Hibberd will serve up to four years in custody and eight on extended licence. He was placed on the sex offender register for life and is now the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Louisa Dyer is from the force’s RISE (reducing incidents of sexual exploitation) team investigated the case and said:
"I’d like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim, who courageously gave evidence to the court about the protracted abuse and control she was subjected to over a two-year period, starting when she was just 14 years-old.
I hope yesterday’s sentencing enables her to achieve some closure. She will continue to be supported by specialist staff from the RISE team to enable her to recover from this terrible ordeal.
The judge described Hibberd as a manipulative young man and gave the extended licence conditions in order to protect the public from harm having deemed him a dangerous individual."
