Suspect Slips Police Custody After Burglary Arrest

Bedfordshire Police are search for John David McCulloch who escaped from police custody just after midnight on Thursday 8 January.

McCulloch is wanted in connection with a burglary in Luton at the beginning of the month and was stopped by police officers at 00.09, Thursday, driving a stolen Vauxhall Corsa northbound on the A6 at the Houghton Conquest junction.

Following a conversation McCulloch was arrested but as he was being put into a police car he managed to hit a police officer and then ran off across the fields near the A6. Despite still being in handcuffs and an extensive search he remains at large.

At the time he was wearing a brown fleece jacket and black cargo trousers. He is described as a white male bald head 5ft 11inches tall and slim build.

Police are appealing for any sightings of McCulloch in the area around the A6 or Houghton Conquest or further afield. They would also like to hear from any taxis that may have been called to the area.
