A woman has been threatened with a knife by a man in Luton, while she was with her child.

It happened last Thursday evening at around 8.45pm in Oak Road. The 32 year old victim and her child were stopped by a man asking for money to buy food. He then threatened to assault the woman if she didn't hand over cash.

The offender is described as a man with an Asian appearance, 28 to 32 years old, with a chubby build, 5’7” tall, short cropped hair and stubble. He wore a green t-shirt and blue jeans.

Detective Sergeant Simon Hancock, from the South Bedfordshire Robbery Unit, wants to trace anyone who saw the robbery or anyone who can help identify the man from the description above.

He said: “Clearly this was a shocking experience and the victim was so frightened that she felt she had to comply with the offender’s demands as she was concerned for the safety of her child as well as herself.

“Luckily she was not injured during this ordeal but we need people to come forward and help identify this man to stop him from targeting other people within our communities.”
