World's Loudest Purring Cat From Northants Dies

Smokey the Cat from Pitsford near Northampton has died.

Smokey was featured on radio, TV and newspapers around the world.

She was on Good Morning America and NBC's Today Show as well as TV in Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

The Guiness Book of World Records recorded Smokey's purr at 67.7db - comparable with a hairdryer or a lawnmower.

She had her own website and Twitter page and became something of a local celebrity.
