Cheese rolling returns

A campaign is being launched to save Gloucestershire's Cheese Rolling.

The tradition, that has been going on for hundreds of years, was cancelled last year because of health and safety concerns, because of an ever growing crowd who turn up every Spring Bank Holiday Monday to watch the event.

The 'Save the Cheese Roll' campaign is looking to ensure the survival of the ancient tradition at Coopers Hill by moving it to June and making it more of a festival, with country crafts and music too.

Cheese rollingAn events company is being brought in to organise the new-look event for this year and the aim now is to raise enough sponsorship to make sure the festival happens.
