Cheltenham man killed in crash

Police want to speak to witnesses to a car crash that killed a Cheltenham man and left another seriously injured.

It happened on Prestbury Road at around 2am on Saturday, when a Vauxhall Vectra car left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Cheltenham was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21 year-old passenger was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries; he is in a critical but stable condition.

Another passenger, a 39-year-old man from Cheltenham, was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for seven hours whilst an investigation was carried out.
