Elmbridge Court Roundabout Improvements
Work is getting underway to improve one of Gloucestershire's busiest junctions.
The £9m scheme to upgrade the Elmbridge Court roundabout aims to tackle congestion on the A40, reduce journey times and improve reliability for people travelling between Cheltenham, Churchdown and Gloucester.
New wider lanes will be put in along with the latest traffic signal technology.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, "I'd like to thank people in advance for their patience whilst we carry out these improvements. We'll be doing all we can to reduce disruption to people's journeys and ask them to bear with us whilst this much needed work is being done.
"The council is working to cut congestion wherever we can. That's not just good for motorists - it's good for Gloucestershire businesses, helping us protect and create jobs in our county."
The first phase of the improvements, which will last approximately six weeks, will see a 24 hour closure of the inner ring of the roundabout with single lane closures on all approach lanes.
The overall scheme is due to finish in September 2017.
