Gloucestershire hospital beds to close

Over 40 beds at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital are to close.

It follows a meeting between the hospitals trust and Gloucestershire's health watchdog.

The beds had already closed for a trial period, but will now go for good to help save money.

10 beds will be closed in the neck and head ward, five in trauma, nine orthopaedic beds and 19 in acute care.

But plans to take 15 beds from cardiology have been scrapped.
