Taking on the rogue traders

A Forest of Dean woman who shopped two rogue traders says more of us should do the same.

Vanessa Morgan called Gloucestershire Trading Standards and Police last August after two men cold called at a nearby house and pressured the elderly neighbour into letting them clean her roof.

John Smith and his nephew Oliver Sheridan, trading as JS Powerwashers, have now been convicted and given community orders.

Vanessa told Heart she had no worries reporting them:

Smith was given a 100-hour community order under the Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer’s Home or Place of Work Regulations to be completed within 12 months.

Sheridan was given a 180-hour community order, reduced to 150 hours because of an early guilty plea.
