Winter Fun at Dover Castle

Spectacularly situated above the White Cliffs of Dover this magnificent castle has guarded our shores from invasion for 2,000 years - now you can enjoy a great family day out with a visit to the 'Key to England'.

The Castle is open every Saturday and Sunday throughout the winter.

Author Debate: The Tudor Age of Conspiracy
Wednesday 29th February 6 -9pm

English Heritage is offering you a great opportunity to meet Sarah Gristwood and get involved in a debate on the chosen subject plus light refreshments will be provided. Sarah has written two bestselling Tudor biographies, Arbella: England’s Lost Queen and Elizabeth and Leicester; and the eighteenth century story Perdita: Royal Mistress, Writer, Romantic which was selected as Radio 4 Book of the Week. 

She has also recently published a book on iconic dresses, Fabulous Frocks (with Jane Eastoe) and a 50th anniversary companion to the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Her first historical novel, The Girl in the Mirror, will be followed by a new non-fiction book on the women who gave birth to the Tudor age. Find out more here

Frontier Fortress; Guns of Dover
Friday 30th March 1 to 4pm, Suitable for Adults

During World War Two, Dover Castle became a frontline fortress and from within the Secret Wartime Tunnels the Coastal and Anti-Aircraft operations rooms controlled the gun batteries.

Hear from the experts who will show you where the WWII defenses were, including the gun batteries, Admiralty Lookout and the Naval radar and anti-tank defenses. Light refreshments will be provided, find out more here.
