Heart Breakfast with James and Gemma
Feathers hair salon in Leybourne is joining 370,000 others to donate hair to the Gulf of Mexico after the massive oil slick.
Feathers has signed up with charity Matter of Trust to help mop up oil left behind after a rig exploded and sank a few weeks ago.
The donated hair will be stuffed into nylon tights which are made into booms and laid out on beaches to soak up any oil that washes up on the beaches.
Hair is being used because follicles are able to hold petroleum.
The oil has been escaping at a rate of 210,000 gallons per day since 20th April.
Feathers hair salon is also asking people to donate their old nylon tights.
The charity also want donations of wool and fleece.
