CCTV OF Girl Muggers Released

Police release pictures and information 5 months on

Police are releasing CCTV images of two females they wish to speak with after two girls were robbed as they walked home in Tovil, Maidstone on 11 June.

The incident occurred on Hayle Road at around 21:30pm. The victims of the robbery spoke out in August to try and bring forward more information about their attackers after they were approached and then robbed by a group of teenagers.

The 17 year old girl recalls: "One of the offenders demanded my phone and when I told them I didn't have one, two of them started to punch me in the side.

'The incident really shook both of us up and I have been playing it over in my mind ever since."

CCTV footage captured at a nearby newsagent following the incident is now being released by police.

PC Richard McIlroy of Maidstone Police investigating the incident comments: "These girls were very brave in speaking out against their attackers. We are taking the unusual step of releasing these CCTV images as we wish to speak with these two females. I would ask people to study the images and contact us should they recognise them. Alternatively, those pictured may wish to come forward and rule themselves out of our enquiries. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police in Maidstone on 01622 604210 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference CY/9412/10."
