Debt Advice for Kent

7 July 2010, 00:00

Figures that have been given to Heart show people in Kent are in £32billion of debt.

That's the equivalent of everyone in the county owing £23,000.

The research also shows a property is repossessed every 13 minutes in the UK and someone's declared bankrupt every 51 seconds.

Most students who were spoken to as part of the study by a debt management company said they believed debt to be a 'fact of life' and just over a third had no concerns about ending up owing money.

Almost 8 in 10 people said that when they borrowed money they didn't get any advice beforehand and thought that bankruptcy was an easy way to get out of debt.
