Four Charged Over 2001 Fatal Shooting

Police have charged four men in connection with the killing of a man who was gunned down on his driveway in Gravesend almost 16 years ago.

Leonard Naylor, 46, suffered multiple gunshot wounds after someone opened fire on him as he returned to his home in in Bracondale Avenue in Istead Rise on April 18 2001.

The charges come after cold case detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate reviewed the case, and officers raided a number of properties in Essex early on Wednesday morning.

Four men have now been charged with conspiracy to murder - Robert Blackwell, 51, of Atlas Road, Plaistow, east London; Kane Ward, 52, of Boyd Close, Upminster, Essex; David Carvel, 51, of Plains Farm Close, Colchester, Essex; and Terence Barry, 43, of no fixed address.
