Funeral For Dave Lee

Hundreds of people have gathered for the funeral of Kent comedian and panto legend Dave Lee.

Comedians Joe Pasquale, Bobby Davro and Jim Davidson were among the 1,200 mourners for the service at Canterbury Cathedral, where it was standing room only.

The 64 year old passed away earlier this month after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He appeared in 16 years of pantomime productions at the Marlowe Theatre, racking up more than 1,000 performances. Dave had had to pull out of this year's panto, Cinderella, due to his health.

The former TV warm-up man was made an MBE in 2003 after setting up own charity Dave Lee's Happy Holidays which has raised more than £2million for sick and disabled children.

A memorial event will be held at the Guildhall on Tuesday night, where Dave will be posthumously honoured with the Freedom of the City of Canterbury.
