Gillingham Attack Victim Dies

Man who was attacked in Gillingham last weekend has died

A 35-year-old man has died following an assault in Gillingham last weekend.  The man suffered severe head injuries and was being treated in the intensive car unit at Medway Maritime hospital. 

The man who has now been formally identified as Saulius Klevinskas of Grays, Essex.  Mr Klevinskas, who is originally from Lithuania, died at about 10pm last night (26 August).

The assault took place on Balmoral Road, Gillingham at about 8.20am on Saturday 21 August.

Ruben White, 21, of Kingswood Road, Gillingham has already been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm.  He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 31 August where further charges may be brought against him.

Three other men arrested in connection with the assault have been released on bail until 28 September while investigations continue.
