A group of media students have had their hard work recognised at Canterbury College’s annual Celebration of Achievement.

They were among more than 90 students from all eight college faculties who were awarded certificates and prizes donated by over 30 business sponsors, in front of nearly 400 parents, teachers, friends and guests.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by the College’s Glee Club and students from the Hair and Beauty departments who conducted a TV-style makeover of college staff using clothes provided by NEXT of Canterbury.

The Heart FM Award for Media Students of the Year was presented to Matthew Skinner and Stefan Milton, while David Vandepeer picked up The Heart FM Award for Most Improved Media Student.

Finally, The Heart FM Award for Most Motivated Student was presented to Ian Fleming who is studying music at the College.

The ceremony was followed by a reception for award winners and guests who enjoyed canapés and drinks supplied by students from the College’s Catering department.

Guests at the event included Chair of Canterbury College’s governing body Colin Carmichael, Cllr Evelyn Bissett, Cllr Paula Vickers, Andrew Wells the High Sheriff of Kent and stakeholder and sponsors from local businesses and employers.

Heart is a stakeholder in the Media department and works with the College to help shape the course content and teaching to make sure it is relevant and up to date for our students.
