The Independent Police Complaints Commission has started an investigation after a man died in police custody at Tonbridge Police station on Friday 13th October.
The 29-year-old man had been arrested earlier that day following allegations of a domestic incident.
While in custody the man collapsed. South East Coast Ambulance Service and the air ambulance service were called but at 5.45pm the man died before he could be taken to hospital.
The IPCC were informed and investigators sent to the scene.
Officers have provided accounts of what happened, a CCTV trawl of the area where the man was arrested was made and investigators are assessing CCTV footage recovered from the police station itself.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and the IPCC will provide them with updates on the investigation throughout.
At this stage all officers are being treated as witnesses.
