Jail Over Stabbing

A man has been jailed for stabbing an 18 year old in Tunbridge Wells.

24 year old Max Sparks from Durgates in Wadhurst, who was found guilty of wounding with intent, has been sentenced to four years and 8 months following the incident in July last year.

Maidstone Crown Court heard how the victim had been out for the evening with friends, when they were confronted by two men outside the old ABC Cinema on Mount Pleasant Road. The men made abusive comments before a fight broke out.

During the row, the 18 year old was stabbed, suffering five deep cuts to his face and body. One wound to his back was 7cms long and up to 2cms deep.

DC Graham Hunt of the West Kent Area Major Enquiry Team who investigated the case said: "This cowardly attack resulted in serious injuries to the victim, who will carry the scars of the crime both mentally and physically for the rest of his life.

"The significant sentence Sparks received reflects the seriousness of the crime and I am pleased that this dangerous offender has been brought to justice.

"I hope that this sentence will give the victim some sense of closure to be able to move on."
