Kent Student In Fatal Fall

A university student from Orpington has died after suffering serious head injuries in a fall at his campus in Essex.

18 year old Tim Jarvis, who was studying Mathematical Sciences, was found unconscious at the bottom of stairs at his accommodation in Colchester last Tuesday night. (11th October)

He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The University of Essex has released an official statement:  "We are in contact with the student's family and will release information in accordance with their wishes.

"The University would like to offer its condolences to his family and will be offering support to those on campus who have been directly affected. The University will be assisting the Coroner's Office with its inquiries into this accident."

Tim's father Peter Jarvis has paid tribute, saying; "Tim was a relaxed and friendly character who was excited by the prospect of university life and the possibility of a study year in the US. 

"His family is distraught at his loss and request that their privacy be respected at this difficult time."
