Peaches Funeral

The funeral of Peaches Geldof takes place later.

The 25 year-old daughter of Bob Geldof was found dead at her home in Kent a fortnight ago.

The service is happening at the same church near Faversham where the funeral of her mother Paula Yates was held nearly 14 years ago.


Woman On Attempted Murder Charge

A 37 year old woman from Canterbury charged with three counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life is due before magistrates today.

Pearl Ivy Thomas of Keats Corner was arrested after police were called to a house fire just after 3.30 on Friday afternoon.


Archbishop Can't Force Sale Of Shares

The Archbishop of Canterbury says he does not have the power to order Church Commissioners to sell its interest in payday loan firm Wonga.

Archbishop Justin Welby told the Sunday Telegraph the commissioners were "doing their best'' to get rid of its stake.


Flood Work Complete

Flood protection has been restored to over 100,000 homes damaged by extreme winter weather.

More than 40,000 tons of shingle has been returned to the coastline between Camber and Romney Marsh.


Conmen Target Pensioners

Two men posing as police officers have got into a home in Greenhithe and stolen a handbag and a wallet.

They ran off when the 81 year old occupant questioned their i.d and  pressed his panic alarm.


Hundreds Arrested In Police Crackdown

More than 250 people have been arrested in the six weeks since Kent police launched their Stay Safe This Spring campaign which targets opportunist thieves.

Among them a 16-year-old girl charged with stealing an I-POD from a school in Dartford, two teenagers found with stolen number plates and a 36-year-old man who took a handbag from a bookies in Margate.
